Mark Mallon was born in Edwardsville in Southern Illinois and moved to Urbana in 2005 as a student at the U of I. He has lived in Ward 2 since 2006.
Since moving here, he has been actively involved in Urbana-Champaign's progressive community: he has served as a Green Party precinct committeeman since 2005, worked on several local Green campaigns and Rich Whitney's gubernatorial campaign, and was an active member of IRV for Urbana, a local citizen action group that campaigned to change Urbana's municipal voting method from a winner-takes-all system to Instant Runoff Voting. Mark has been involved with the Campus Greens of UIUC and has helped organize regular Iraq War Protests on campus.
In his spare time he enjoys reading, playing guitar and singing, and bicycling.
